What do voices sound like that aren’t heard?
We are bringing the Good News and the people are rejoicing! Praise God for salvation, and pray that his word will go forth from these places.
Pray for each leader that they will teach each person receiving a Bible how to use and share it.
We are raising funds to fill a container of Bibles printed and shipped from Brazil. Please consider helping us fill the container! Recurring tax deductible monthly donations are welcome!

![]() God is making a way amidst suffering "Behold, I am doing a new thing...I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." Isaiah 43:19 God speaks powerfully in Isaiah 43. Most of the folks we met on this trip would identify with this passage. They have "passed through the waters". Many though are looking for "a new way in the wilderness" and ask if God or anyone is with them. ![]() Finishing distribution in the current region This last Bible distribution is reason to praise God. He clearly went ahead of us to prepare the way where He is working. But we have only scratched the surface. Still most lack a Bible in this region. BUT churches, which did received a few Bibles, are now seeing people sacrificing to buy a Bible…PRAISE GOD! We will distribute 10,000 or so more Bibles here and then be done for a total of about 40,000 Bibles. The new region is challenging Joseph Kony’s 20 year reign of terror affected most in this region as he brutally tried to purify the Acholi people through genocide. 66,000 were abducted as child soldiers. 2 million people were displaced between 1986 and 2009. "Bring out the people who are blind, yet have eyes...!" Isaiah 43:8 The people here have lost many productive years of their lives. They are looking for answers and many trusting that somehow God will provide...despite their experiencing brutality that I cannot describe here. Their stories leave me weeping. Yet, they trust that God is here still. Bible distribution here will be different as most pastors are untrained and uneducated. Yet they are committed to doing the work of the Gospel. Here, we will distribute a mix of traditional Bibles in the Acholi language along with the Talking Bible in Acholi and English. Additionally, we are testing a study Bible for untrained pastors. This Bible will help many of these pastors prepare lessons that are scripturally sound and culturally appropriate. God is making a way where there was no way
This is our 4th year of distributing Bibles. Here and in Africa, our partners are becoming confident that we are in this for the long haul. We have delivered what we promised ONLY with God’s help and provision. We look forward to what 2021 will hold. ![]() …BUT COVID! Earlier this year, Uganda’s COVID lockdown prohibited us from moving about the country. This month Uganda is slowly reopening its borders and churches. Thousands of Bibles are arriving now. NOW FINALLY, we are launching in the new region again! NOVEMBER 6 to NOVEMBER 15! We pray we can find good partner church associations. We will hold multiple meetings with leaders in each city adhering to appropriate COVID restrictions. We are also meeting with women in the Hosanna Bible-Based Community Outreach to hear how they are doing and how the ministry is growing. PASTOR QUOTES - WHO KNOW WE ARE COMING
YOU CAN HELP
"For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." Hebrews 4:12 NIV (Please donate through our partner, the Disciple Makers Network. This is a tax exempt non-profit, which supports Christian ministries like the Africa Bible Project. 100% of your contributions designated for Bibles support our work.) Uganda has experienced unusually heavy rains raising the water level of Lake Victoria to record levels. Over 123,000 who live on the banks and islands were displaced. The Africa Bible Project responded with 11,000 pounds of food supplied by women members of our Hosanna Micro Finance Project. Over 30,000,000 Ugandans living today haven't turned on a light switch...a few of them received food donated by folks in the United States. You can meet a few of them by scrolling down to see their story. Those who received food were chosen by leaders of five county-wide pastor associations who have partnered with The Africa Bible Project around Lake Victoria (Majanhi, Masafu, Bukana, Buyinja, Busia (2) and a few other partners in ministry). Prepared by Pastor Okumu David ![]() Mr. Twaha Swaibu, Chairman of the Local Council One for Madibira B, is receiving food baskets for 5 people who are in the isolation center in his village who are suspect to be positive for COVID-19. He is thankful and sends his gratitude. "The Church is being felt by the community and the church had come down to the needs of the community." He thanked the Africa Bible Project for the support. "...For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat.."
"The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’" - Matthew 25 "...give the book to one who cannot read, saying, “Read this.” He says, “I cannot read.” - Isaiah 29:12
IF YOU CANNOT READ THIS... You are like 24% of Ugandans who need the spoken word because they cannot read. IF YOUR PASTOR CANNOT READ THIS... You will attend a church led by a pastor who is semi-illiterate or illiterate. Your pastor has difficulty interpreting the Bible. IF YOUR CHURCH CANNOT READ THIS.... How your church is led will impact the African church. Preaching what you think is in the Bible is different than preaching what the Bible actually says. BUT IF YOU CAN HEAR THE WORD... Our partnership with Talking Bibles offers the non-reader and the blind access to the Bible in their native language. A Talking Bible can change the life of a non-reader. June 25, 2020 - Uganda "...with your blood, you purchased for God, persons from every tribe and language - Rev. 5:9 NIV Last week, we spoke or met with over 200 pastors and congregants representing several tribes and languages who received a Bible this year. Most had never owned a personal Bible because the price is a month's income or more. VOICES RECEIVING A BIBLE EARLIER THIS YEAR ![]() - Okware Robert, 39 years old, was born blind and is married with six children. He received his first Bible in February in his language, Lugandan. His sixth grade daughter reads to him what the pastor has said in church and now, "I will mature in the knowledge of Jesus and serve Him." "For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Ephesians 2:10 NIV
Do you see yourself as God sees you? God created you to be His image-bearer. Our work is a reflection of who God is. When you see yourself as God sees you, you can best steward what God has placed before you. What does that look like in your daily work? Poverty can focus work to one main goal...food for today In Africa, many have heard and responded to the Gospel message. But, for the poor, pressing life issues can make it hard to focus on living out the Gospel. Hossana offers a hand up and a model for Bible-based businesses The Hossana Bible-based Community Development Model encourages existing entrepreneurs who need a hand up. Hossana finds Christians who are capable of growing their business, hiring others, and sharing the Gospel. This model supports the work of the church as Christians go about their daily work. Weekly meetings - learn, share and grow Hossana meets weekly with each partner to discuss their business and show them how to connect their business to the Gospel. As Christian business entrepreneurs are empowered and uplifted, they build strong, high-trust relationships that allows them to share their Hope in Christ, because people listen and take what they have to say seriously. See four women below tell their story of how Hossana has helped them. May 25, 2020 - Report on Food Relief for Uganda Christ's Voice ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?’ - Matthew 25 Voices from Recipients of Food - One of the old women had been sleeping hungry. But she was reading the Bible every day asking Him to provide. She said, "God answered my prayers by giving me food today". She thanked God and the team that brought the flour to the church. - Mama Agutu, Mama Agelina and Mama Nafula, aged 75, 73, and 82, wear improvised face masks receiving food. Site of Bible distribution in February 2020.
- Some at Bugobi Baptist Church said they appreciated the support of food as they had no food. "We could only take water to our children and pray for what would happen the next day". |
